On 28th November 2010, twenty nine (29) members of the Vidarbha Management Association (VMA) attended the inaugural Marketing workshop for SMEs launched under MDP program at OCTAVE’s state-of-art conference cum class room. “The program was a good combination of sharing knowledge of sales and marketing management and analysis of real life issues faced by the attendees in their own businesses. VMA members are enthusiastic, interactive and have a thirst for learning” said Mr. Sachin Yete, President of VMA. The workshop covered basic marketing steps for a product or service in a structured manner such as Consumer analysis, Market analysis, Review of competition and self, Review of the Distribution channels, and Development of a Preliminary” marketing mix and Evaluation of the Economics. During this one day session real life sales and marketing problems were analyzed and the audience actively participated in working out implementable solutions.
“It’s exciting to meet so many business owners and professionals who are eager to know, learn and have real life business issues to solve. Easy to implement and effective solutions is the ultimate objective of any MDP and we were able to work out few solutions within one day of interaction” said Mr. Chandra Bhople, instructor for the workshop and co-founder of OCTAVE. The program aimed to bring together the real life business experiences and structured approach based on sound management principles.
“The best part for me was application of sales and marketing concepts to my business and current challenges. I am already planning to implement some of the ideas which came out of the workshop,” said Mr. Rajeev Sharma of Shades Furnishings. The attendees included owners and representatives from various industries such as Retail, Manufacturing, IT Services, Electronics, Housing and Infrastructure. Beginning January 2011, current batch of OCTAVIANs will be working under the guidance of mentors on 20+ projects offered by the attendees.
